Local Charities Feeling Affect of Cancelled Steeplechase

The Central Kentucky Riding for Hope says they project to lose about ten-thousand dollars in fundraising.
Organizers of the High Hope Steeplechase say they had to cancel this year's event due to a lack of entries and races.

And while fans of the races will be disappointed, they wont be nearly as affected as local charities that rely on thousand of dollars in fundraising from the event.

The Central Kentucky Riding for Hope says raise on average about ten-thousand dollars from the event and plan for that money in what is already a tight budget.

They say that puts a lot of pressure on their other main fundraising event the 'Night of the Stars' which is held at Keeneland on June 15th.

The Kentucky Horse Park Foundation and Secretariat Center also receives funds from the High Hope Steeplechase and says they're also looking at significant losses from the cancellation.
