Centre College Honors MLK With Music

Centre College honored Dr. Martin Luther King, Junior Monday with its annual musical program.
Each year, Centre College holds an annual program honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Monday's program included singers from Danville High School, Boyle County High School, Mercer County High School, and the Kentucky State University Choir. Organizers say this isn't a day off. It's a day "on."

"It's really important because a lot of us are in the positions we are in today because of the struggles of the civil rights movement," J.H. Atkins, the college's assistant vice president for diversity, told ABC 36. "Doctor King being one of the leaders, probably the most famous leader of the civil rights movement. A lot of work still needs to be done, and keeping that dream alive means working toward solutions to satisfy that dream."
