Both parties have now chosen candidates for the special election that will fill James Comer's seat in the Kentucky House. Comer was elected agriculture commissioner last November, and took office last week.

The Democrats on Monday announced Barry Dean Steele will run in the 53rd District. He's a retired dairy farmer and former Metcalfe County magistrate.

The Republicans had already picked Bart Rowland, an insurance man from Tompkinsville. Comer is also a Republican.

The election is February seventh. The district includes Cumberland, Green, Metcalfe, and Monroe Counties.
