The race is set, to replace Kathy Stein in the Kentucky Senate.

Monday, the Republican Party chose Michael E. Johnson to be the GOP nominee in the December 10th special election. The party describes him as a minister and a 30-year resident of Lexington.
The Democrats had already chosen Reginald Thomas, who ran for a Lexington House seat in 2012.

Also Monday, former Urban County Council member Richard Moloney announced he would run for the seat as an independent.

Stein is resigning as senator from the 13th Senate district in order to become a judge.
