John Calipari said on Wednesday that freshman Archie Goodwin is Kentucky's point guard, even though Ryan Harrow has returned to practicing with the team.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - There's no quarterback, er point guard, controversy at Kentucky. John Calipari said Archie Goodwin is UK's floor general.

Although Ryan Harrow - who was recruited and groomed to become Calipari's next point guard prodigy - has returned to practicing with the team, Calipari said Goodwin has earned the spot.

“Archie is our point guard so I hope he is comfortable in that position," Calipari said on Wednesday. "But, it gives us a chance now to give us two point guards on the court. My best teams have had two point guards on the court at one time. So, we have that opportunity now.”

Harrow started the season at point guard but became ill prior to UK's season opener against Maryland. He played limited minutes against the Terrapins and has missed UK's four games since.

Harrow returned to practice on Sunday and said he feels he is ready to play but knows he has some catching up to do.

During his absence, Goodwin has taken over at the point with junior Jarrod Polson backing him up.

“He is our point guard. He has earned the position and he is our point guard. Now, he isn’t our only point guard. We have three point guards, that’s even better. It really is better and you can have two point guards on the floor at the same time, which is even better against zone, against pressing, so it’s good for us. He is doing good learning the position and getting better game-to-game, so he has earned his spot,” Calipari said.
