Burn Bans Issued In Kentucky

Several counties have banned outdoor burning as the hot, dry weather continues.
More than a dozen counties across Kentucky have implemented bans on outdoor burning as the extremely hot, dry weather continues.  Laurel, Jessamine, Madison and Clark are among the counties that have put the restrictions in place as a precautionary measure.

In Clark County the fire marshal, Billy Jones, said the ban does not currently prohibit the setting off of fireworks.  He said dry grass is not the only concern.  “Construction material is dry, decking, roofing, trees,” said Jones.  “Everything’s dry right now and could catch on fire really easy.”

Jones says while the county has not had a fire started in recent days by outdoor burning the dry conditions have caused other types of fires to spread.
