Officials at Eastern Kentucky University said a sprinkler head broke early Thursday morning, causing Martin Hall to be evacuated.

They said students were forced to leave the building at around 2:30am.

Investigators believe the sprinkler head may have been tampered with, putting pressure into the water main.

Officials said carpets sustained some water damage, but have been cleaned up.

Martin Hall is expected to reopen sometime Thursday afternoon.
