Brief Break Before More Rain, Tomorrow

Showers have exited to the east, and we'll see a short-lived break before widespread rain returns for the second half of Thursday.
After a mild and wet morning with about a third of an inch of rain in the Bluegrass Region, we'll get a bit of a break for the final hours of autumn as temperatures slowly trend downward.  Winds will remain very active, though, with gusts over 25 mph.  Winter begins at 12:30 AM EST tonight.  Thursday will begin dry but another round of widespread rain will arrive around midday and continue into the afternoon, with highs peaking near 50 degrees.  Only a leftover sprinkle or flurry will remain on Friday as seasonably chilly air returns.  Most of Christmas Eve should be dry, with a chance for rain showers late, especially south.  On Christmas Day, a storm system passing to our southeast may produce a light mix of rain and snow in southeastern Kentucky, but precipitation chances will be lower to the north and west.  Highs will remain in the middle 40s on Monday and Tuesday of next week with more sunshine than clouds.
