A Lexington man stands accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend's home, assaulting her and then setting a car on fire in her driveway.

On March 14, Paul Leach kicked in the door of his ex's home on Radcliffe Road, according to court documents. The woman told officers she tried to get him to leave, but then he assaulted her.

She said she went to grab a knife, and Leach took off in a black car.

Later on, police said they received a call that someone noticed a vehicle in flames, sitting in the woman's driveway. The caller also said there was a black car that matched the one Leach was driving sitting at the front of the driveway.

The caller then said the car drove away, but not before other witnesses noticed it.

Court documents report that Leach and the woman had been dating for 15 years, but ended their relationship back in February.

Leach was arrested Wednesday night and was lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.
