A Boy Scout Troop in Montgomery County lost thousands of dollars of popcorn overnight.

Mt. Sterling Assistant Troop Leader Chad Jones says he woke up this morning to see his trailer missing from his backyard.

The white, unmarked trailer is where he stored Boy Scout Troop 4’s entire supply of popcorn for sale.

Jones says someone stole the trailer and took with them $5,000 worth of popcorn.

The Boy Scouts say they had the merchandise on credit and paid for the popcorn as they sold it. However after talking to the Bluegrass Council today, Jones said the council is very sympathetic and willing to work with them.

But Jones added that popcorn sales are the group’s biggest fundraiser. And without their revenue it will hurt programs for the boy scouts like going to summer camp and hiking.

He adds if anyone has information about this theft, to call police.

This is a terrible way to teach children values, but after they get over the shock of it, I am quite certain they will rise to the challenge of overcoming this issue. Thankfully no one was hurt, tell em to go out there and sell, I'll buy...the Boy Scouts stand for everything our country is starting to leave. God Bless the Boy Scouts.
