fell off the horse on a riding trail.

Authorities at 6:20 p.m. Sunday, the Mercer County Sheriff’s department was dispatched to Calvary Road at Eagles Nest Riding Trails for a report of a child that had been severely injured.

The sheriff's department says a family was riding horses on the trails, when 5-year-old Caden Moon fell off the horse; the horse then stumbled, fell, and rolled over top of Caden.

Authorities say the family rushed the child to their vehicle and headed towards Harrodsburg. Law enforcement and EMS intercepted the vehicle on Industry Road. EMS then took the child to James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital in Harrodsburg.
