An accident in Owsley County has claimed the life of a Booneville woman.

State police said the accident happened on highway 30 at 4:30 Sunday afternoon. Troopers said 55-year-old Dave Reed was driving a Ford Ranger when he crossed the center line, sideswiped another car, went off the road then struck a tree.

The crash killed Reed's passenger, 23-year-old Whitney Roberts. Reed was flown to UK with non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

Troopers said it does not appear Reed or Roberts were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
