The Garrard County Water Association is asking residents in Berea and Southeastern Garrard County to boil water before drinking or cooking.
The alert was issued in response to a valve failure at the Berea Water Plant Monday night.
The boil alert affects customers living off of Kentucky 954, Gabbard Road, Copper Creek Road, and White Lick Road in Southeastern Garrard County.
Officals say water should be brought to full boil for three to five minutes before it's used.
