Rates for Big Rivers Electric Corp. customers will be going up, but they won't rise as much as expected and customers won't see the price bump until next year.

Customers of Jackson Purchase Energy Cooperative, Kenergy Corp. and Meade County Rural Electric Cooperative Corp. will see an average increase of about $15 on their monthly bills.

The Kentucky Public Service Commission adjusted the revenue and rates for the company on Friday after the company left its system of the Century Aluminum smelter in Sebree.
