LeRoy Neiman's 'Flat Racing,' a one of a kind glazed ceramic tile mural, sold for $291,000, including buyer premium, to top the inaugural Sporting Art Auction held Wednesday at Keeneland.

The auction featured 174-lots representing fine sporting art, American paintings and sculpture from renowned artists.

Two lots, Andrew Wyeth's 'Marsh Hawk,' and Mary Cassatt's 'Children Playing with a Cat,' bid to $4.8 million and $4.7 million, respectively, did not meet their reserves.

Eighty-one percent of the pieces sold and 48-percent of those sold for more than the high estimate value listed in the catalog.

Total sales for the evening surpassed $3.1 million.

The auction was a collaborative effort between Keeneland and Cross Gate Gallery of Lexington.
