After her kidney failure three years ago because of lupus, a Berea woman started to look for a kidney organ donor. Angela Brown still hasn’t found one – and doctors tell her time is running out.

Brown was diagnosed with stage four renal failure in February 2011. Doctors discovered it after she went to the Emergency Room for pneumonia.

Since then, Brown has been searching for a kidney donor. But after three years, she still hasn’t been able to find one.

“The hardest part is knowing I need this to live and can’t have it right now,” Brown said.

Three people, including her brother, have tried to donate their kidney to Brown, but doctors won’t use their organ because of the donor’s medical history.

“It will break your heart,” Brown said about learning a donor doesn’t match. “Because you’ve been getting your hopes up and all this. And then they tell you you can’t do it for one reason or another. It’s crazy.”

To sign-up as a potential donor for Brown, contact The University of Cincinnati Transplant Center at 513-584-7001.

Brown’s friends set up a donation page at giveforward.com to help the family cover the travel expenses to and from the hospitals.

There’s also a Facebook Page to follow Angela’s progress. The group is called “Hope for Angela Gail.”

More information is needed about this case. Some people live a long time with this condition.
