Central Kentucky will have a new representative in Washington D.C.

Andy Barr defeated Ben Chandler election night, to take Kentucky's Sixth Congressional District.

Barr ended up carrying 54 percent of the vote, holding on to a commanding lead early on until Chandler called in conceding a little after 9pm.

Barr lost to Chandler in the 2010 race by about 700 votes.

The new congressman says his first act in Washington will be to work towards legislation that will bring more jobs to his district. Something Barr promised at every stop along his campaign.
