Attempted Burglaries in Strip Mall Damaged by Fire

Three business, in the same strip mall as Friday's massive two-alarm fire, were broken into Sunday night.

After a massive two-alarm fire on Friday, the strip mall on the 400 block of West New Circle is now suffering from attempted burglaries.

Lexington Police say they responded after a security guard called around 11 p.m. Sunday night to report seeing people trying to break into a storage shed. Police say they suspects were trying to ram their car into the shed's door in an attempt to break down the door.

According to police, when responding units pulled up, the suspects jumped in a blue Ford Explorer and took off, almost colliding with an officer.

Police say the car was last seen traveling outbound Russell Cave from New Circle.

Police say while they investigated the scene, they found that three businesses in the strip mall also had their back doors broken into.

Lexington Police officials say they are still investigating. Detectives will be meeting with store owners later this morning to see if their stores were burglarized.
