Asbury Named A Kentucky Proud University

State Agriculture Commissioner James Comer will be on hand Thursday to unveil new "Farm to Campus" Program.
Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner James Comer will be on Asbury University's campus Thursday morning to announce a new program aimed at linking local farms to the campus cafeterias.

Asbury will be the first private school in the state to get on board the Kentucky Proud "Farm to Campus" program.

The Kentucky Proud initiative, organized by the Department of Agriculture, promotes the purchase and use of produce and other farm products grown in the Commonwealth.

To help incorporate that initiative into schools, "Farm to Campus" will allow Asbury to work with it's campus caterers to maximize the use of locally grown foods in the university's dining halls.

Thursday morning Commissioner Comer, university leaders and other local leaders will celebrate Asbury's Kentucky Proud "Farm to Campus" kickoff. It will take place outside Asbury's Student Center at 11 am.
