A Laurel County man is accused of stealing tailgates, then trying to resell them at car lots.

Deputies said his girlfriend also faced charges in connection to the case.

The Sheriff's Office said it arrested Travis North, 25, Tuesday night.

Deputies said the arrest came after an investigation into several recent tailgate thefts from pickups in Laurel County.

Investigators said North tried to make restitution to one of the theft victims.

According to deputies, North's girlfriend wrote a check to the victim, but the check bounced.

The Sheriff's Office said Kalyn Rednour, 24, was arrested for theft by deception for writing cold checks.
