An arrest warrant has been issued for the mother of a Lexington fugitive.

John Buckley's mother, Sandra Merritt, has a misdemeanor warrant out for her arrest for filing a false police report. Merritt told police that her rental car had been stolen by a stranger when Buckley was the one who took it.

The report was filed on August 1st. Police issued the warrant for Merritt on August 3rd.

Merritt lives in Colorado.

Police located Buckley's getaway car last month.

Buckley left the Fayette County Court House on July 12th right before a jury found him guilty of rape. Police say he then cut off his electronic monitoring bracelet and fled.
