Animal Cruelty Case Wraps Up In Franklin County

Sandra Coy entered an Alford guilty plea to 10 charges of animal cruelty
A Franklin County woman facing 10 charges of animal cruelty entered what's known as an Alford plea Wednesday.

The Court Clerk says Sandra Coy's plea means she did not admit guilt in the case, but does admit there's enough evidence to convict her.

Coy was charged after deputies say they found dozens of dogs and other animals in filthy conditions last August at her farm.

The animals are in the care of the Humane Society.

She was sentenced to 12-months in jail, but won't serve the time if she gives up the animals she owns to the Humane Society, and agrees she will not own any more animals for the next two years.

Coy was also ordered to pay a $500 fine.
