Just days away from the scheduled end of the Angel Tree Program in Lexington, and there are still more than 1,000 children in need.

The Salvation Army said the tree located outside of the Dillards in Fayette Mall still has many children that need chosen so they can have a present to open this Christmas. The organization said the children on the list don't have any other way of receiving a present this year.

The Angel Tree was scheduled to close Monday, but the Salvation Army has extended the date until Monday, December 10th. Individuals can drop off donations from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Christmas Center located at 1030 South Broadway Street in Lexington.
