Accused Heroin Dealer Faces Charges Connected To Overdose Death

A Winchester man, who's accused of dealing heroin to a person who overdosed and died on the drug, made his first appearance in federal court on Friday following his indictment.

Harold Wayne Salyers, 53, was indicted June 6th for distribution of heroin resulting in death, conspiracy to distribute heroin, possession with intent to distribute heroin and distribution of heroin, according to prosecutors.

According to the indictment, on August 7, 2012, Salyers distributed heroin to an individual in Clark County who used the heroin, overdosed and died.

The indictment also alleges that Salyers conspired with others to distribute heroin in Clark County from approximately August 2012 until June 2013.

Salyers is due back in federal court on June 18th.

He remains in custody.
