A Windy and Mild Tuesday

Gusty winds from the south will deliver milder air, and a few additional showers will cross the northern half of the area.
A Wind Advisory is in effect across central Kentucky, and a Lake Wind Advisory is in effect across eastern Kentucky, as active winds from the south gust to near 40 or 45 mph today.  (A Lake Wind Advisory is a small step down from a traditional Wind Advisory, and the National Weather service issues it as a caution to boaters due to the risk of capsizing.)  A few more gusty rain showers will cross the northern half of the area today, and highs will peak near 53 degrees under partly cloudy skies.  Tonight, we should be dry with lows near 36.  Wednesday will be even milder with highs near 57.  Spotty showers and potentially even an isolated thunderstorm will occur on Wednesday as a weak disturbance slides across the area from west to east.  Thursday will be unusually mild for late February, with highs in the middle 60s.  Scattered, potentially strong thunderstorms will accompany a potent cold front on Thursday evening into Thursday night, with the best chance for a severe thunderstorm in southern Kentucky.  Sharply colder air will follow on Friday, as rain showers mix with a few snow showers before drier air arrives, and temperatures will fall through the 40s and into the 30s.  The weekend will begin cold, but readings will recover back closer to average by Sunday afternoon, and we should be dry with high pressure overhead.  The next chance for rain creeps back into the forecast with a Monday disturbance.
