After our record warmest meteorological spring, the first day of meteorological summer is unseasonably cool with temperatures nearly steady in the 60s.  Scattered showers will continue to cross the region through the morning, and by afternoon, most of the leftover showers will be limited to eastern Kentucky.  Tonight will be chilly on early June standards as readings drop to 48° under partly cloudy skies.  The next seven days will feature frequent, weaker disturbances riding along the storm track, right across Kentucky.  Occasional showers and thunderstorms will be possible from the middle of the weekend into the middle of next week.  While readings will only struggle to near 70° on Saturday afternoon, and 76° on Sunday, temperatures will climb closer to average next week, peaking within a degree or two of 80° most days.
