8-Year-Old Boy Drowns In Owensboro

An boy has drowned in Owensboro.

The Daviess County Deputy Coroner says the child slipped out of an inflatable ring while playing in a resort pool during a birthday party.

The Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer says the child's name was Blaine Jewell.

The deputy coroner say a girl saw the boy drowning, screamed and held his head above water until a couple of swimmers could perform CPR.

But the child was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
