$7,000+ Reward Offered in Whooping Crane Shooting

A $7,200 reward has been posted for anyone with information leading to an arrest of the person(s) responsible for shooting whooping cranes in Kentucky.
A $7,200 reward has been posted for anyone with information leading to an arrest of the person(s) responsible for shooting whooping cranes in Kentucky.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources reported at least one whooping crane shooting close to Pond River on the Hopkins and Muhlenberg County line.

The FWS said whooping cranes are the most endangered crane species in the world, with less than 500 living in the United States.

Whooping cranes are protected under two federal laws, with penalties ranging up to a $100,000 and/or one year in federal prison.
