Two people were taken to the hospital for their injuries and then arrested after an early Wednesday morning crash in Lexington.

According to police, an officer on patrol spotted a car with two people inside on Seventh Street. The officer said the car looked suspicious and pulled it over.

When the officer started to approach the car, he said he noticed heavy front end damage and a hole in the windshield. He called for backup and two ambulances to check on the victims.

When paramedics arrived, they transported the two people to University of Kentucky hospital. They believe that the passenger was partially ejected during the crash, causing the windshield damage.

Police believe the driver hit a pole, but aren’t sure what pole she hit and how long she drove after the accident.

Police said both people were treated and released from the hospital.

Police arrested both of them. The driver was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and the passenger was arrested for outstanding warrants.
