LEXINGTON - The Bluegrass Sports Commission (BSC) and the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation (KLEF) announced a three-year contract for the Kentucky/Indiana All-Star Classic to be played in Lexington. The event annually matches the top boys and girls high school basketball players in Kentucky against the best in Indiana. This year's games will be held June 13 at Transylvania University and will be televised on a syndicated network in Kentucky.

"This is a very exciting announcement for us," said Terry Johnson, Executive Director of the BSC.

Since 1940, the Classic has created an intense rivalry between the historical basketball-rich states. The games feature the top boys and girls high school seniors from each state, including the "Mr. and Miss Basketball" award winners. Though the event has a long history, 2014 will mark just the sixth time it will be held in Lexington and the first since 1996.

"The Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation is extremely excited about this announcement," said Noel Hardwick, President of the Foundation. "This is a project that means a great deal to our organization and we feel this is the best move for us and the event moving forward."

Transylvania's Clive Beck Center will be the venue in 2014. One of the most historic campuses in the country, The Beck Center is a state-of-the-art facility in the heart of downtown Lexington.

"Transylvania is proud to play host to this iconic event," said Transylvania Athletic Director, Dr. Holly Sheilley."We are excited to play a part in bringing this event to our community and showcasing our campus."

Ticket information and additional details will be released at a later date. Any questions regarding the event should be directed to the Bluegrass Sports Commission at (859) 255-0336 or by e-mail at info@bluegrasssports.org.
