Bryan Station beat top-ranked Lexington Catholic and Woodford County got by Madison Central to set up the 11th region baseball finals.
LEXINGTON, Ky. - Bryan Station knocked off No. 1 ranked Lexington Catholic 2-1 Tuesday in the semifinals of the 11th region tournament at Tates Creek. While Woodford County upset Madison Central 3-2 in eight innings in the other semifinal.
After giving up a run and a pair of hits in the first inning, University of Kentucky signee Ryne Combs held Lexington Catholic hitless over the final six innings. The Defenders' left-hander improved to 10-1 on the season with his two-hit complete game.
Station tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the first, then pushed across the go-ahead run in the fourth to reach the region finals for the first time in three years.
Woodford County scored two runs on an error in the second inning and pitcher Logan Parrett had a perfect game broken up in the top of the seventh inning.
Madison Central plated two in the seventh to force extra innings.
The Yellow Jackets scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the eighth.
Woodford County and Bryan Station will play in the 11th region championship game Wednesday night at 7 PM.
