Blue Grass Energy members can save money, save energy and maybe even win $100 by enrolling in the cooperative’s innovative programs. Members who enroll in SimpleSaver and/or Beat the Peak through Nov. 30 are being entered for a $100 Visa gift card drawing.
There will be two drawings—one for each program. Members who enroll in both programs will be entered into both prize drawings. Random drawings will take place Dec. 1, and winners will be notified shortly thereafter.
SimpleSaver allows the co-op to install a switch on your central air conditioner and/or electric water heater to cycle the units briefly when electricity costs are high. Members who enroll in this program, will receive a $5 bill credit in June, July, August and September for each air conditioner unit. For each water heater enrolled, they will get a $10 bill credit in February. Plus, members who sign up before Nov. 30 will be entered into a $100 Visa gift card drawing! To find more information or to enroll in SimpleSaver, go to www.simplesaver.coop or call (800) 305-5493.
Beat the Peak is Blue Grass Energy’s newest program—designed to reduce energy use during peak demand times, when electricity costs are highest.
“A large part of power supply cost is determined by energy used during peak load periods – when people are using the greatest amount of electricity,” says Denise Myers, Blue Grass Energy’s energy solutions manager. “If we can reduce the demand during these peak times, we can reduce Blue Grass Energy’s power costs and minimize increases on members’ monthly electric bills. Working together, we can save on power costs.”
Enroll in Beat the Peak, and Blue Grass Energy will alert you by text, e-mail or phone during peak times. Sign up for Beat the Peak text messages by texting bgpeak to 85700, or go to www.bgenergy.com/BeatThePeak.aspx to receive e-mail or phone messages. Members who enroll before Nov. 30 will also be entered into the $100 Visa gift card drawing.
“Thousands of Blue Grass Energy members already take advantage of our programs, but we hope to introduce more members to the energy and money savings,” says Myers. “It’s one more way we’re looking out for you.”
