Thursday is World Aids Day and the White House is displaying a huge red ribbon to honor the day.

President Obama is taking part in a panel discussion on the disease at George Washington University.

Former Presidents Bill Clinton and George w. Bush are joining in the event via satellite.

The Centers for Disease Control estimates more than 33-million people worldwide are currently infected with the HIV virus.

Approximately 50-thousand Americans become infected with the potentially deadly virus every year.
