It's easy to talk about developing a healthier lifestyle, but it's much tougher to do it.
Many dieticians recommend keeping a food diary since what you think you ate and what you actually eat throughout the day can vary quite a bit.
The food diary will also give you an indication of the healthiness of your diet. You should make sure you get at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables per day.
A piece of fruit or vegetable the size of a tennis ball is a good place to start or you could swap one for a 4 ounce glass of juice.
Then you can try to limit your red meat intake to once a week, opting for leaner choices like chicken and fish.
Cleveland Clinic dietician Carolyn Snyder says the next step is to eliminate sugar-sweetened beverages.
"All you have to do is drink one 20 ounce sugar-sweetened soda pop a day and you have the potential to gain 30 pounds a year," said Snyder.
Snyder says to look for healthier alternatives, like water, and squeeze some fresh fruit juice into it for flavor.
