Girl Scout Troop 846 is trying to reduce, reuse, and recycle in Garden Springs Elementary.

They targeted the cafeteria as the biggest waste producer and asked the workers where their biggest trash piles were.

The cafeteria now uses reusable utensils instead of the plastic ones and is trying to offer more items that aren't wrapped in paper or plastic that will have to be thrown away.

The Girl Scouts are also urging students to bring their lunch in reusable containers.

They hope to implement this idea in other schools soon.
