A group of local parents celebrated Earth Day by trying to set a world record.  They gathered at Mother Nurture Natural Parenting Store in Lexington, hoping to change the largest amount of cloth diapers at one time.  Supporters of the reusable diapers say in addition to saving space in landfills.  They also keep babies healthy by not exposing them to potentially harmful chemicals found in their disposable counterpart.  People at the rally said they hope other moms and dads will make the switch too.

"I hope it just shows parents that it's a lot easier that a lot of people think. Many people think it's very difficult or messy and gross, when in reality any time you change a diaper, you're dealing with poop and this is just one way we can make it easier on the environment and healthier for our kids," says Mother Nurture owner, Cerise Bouchard.

This world-record attempt took place at more than 300 locations worldwide.
