LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — The Nest Center for Women, Children & Families says it is in its final push to get toys and Christmas gifts for its patrons this holiday season.

The Nest says it provides free programs for child care, parenting, domestic violence counseling and crisis care for what it describes as basic human needs. It says its focus is to prevent child abuse and neglect, and to stabilize families. It says it will provide 635 children, who use its services and are six years old or younger, with Christmas gifts.

Organizers say it still needs gifts for young boys and girls. It is looking for coats, hats, gloves, art supplies, books, puzzles and games. The girls need dress up clothes, dolls and movie-themed toys. Staff says for boys it could use action figures, sport equipment, cars and trucks. Workers say they could use wrapping paper, gift bags, tape bows and ribbon to wrap the gifts.

The nest plans to go shopping for items that were not donated on Thursday. Parents will pick up gifts on the 11th.

The Nest says if you would like to donate, you can drop off presents to 530 N. Limestone from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. on the 10th. They will still accept donations on the 11th.
